Precor Efx I Elliptical Machine
Can someone explain to me the HIIT exercise?
I go to the gym on a weekly basis for weight loss. I used to lift weights 3 days a week and cardio all 5 days. But because I was lifting weights, I was losing much slower. So I recently started doing cardio all 5 days, I stopped lifting weights. I've read some stuff about HIIT and am very interested, I read that it helps you lose weight faster. I always use the Precor Efx Elliptical machine at the gym, I've found that I burn a lot more calories on it than a treadmill. In a typical 35 min workout varying the resistance from 10 to 12, I burn an average of 750 calories every day. I work out first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Can you please explain how I can start introducing HIIT into my workouts. And any tips that will help me get better results. Thanks a lot.
It's all about changing the intensity of your workout at different intervals. Rate your intensity on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the all-out highest you can go. You basically go up in intensity, then slow down and catch your breath, then up again. Here's one typical plan ..
Warm up the first 2 minutes at Intensity Level 5
Minutes 2-3 move from Intensity Level 5 to 6
Minutes 4-5, 6-10 and 11-14 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 9, maintain for one minute.
Minutes 15-19 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 10 (High Point at Level 10), maintain for one minute.
Minute 20 cool down to Intensity Level 5 for one minute.
Alternate weight-training and cardio workouts for six consecutive days and rest on the seventh day.
