merit elliptical question?
on my merit 720E elliptical, it has a calorie counter, but i dont know how many im truly burning because it doesnt ask for my weight, does anyone know about the merit ellipticals and how they count calories?
Below is a URL for an article that says the calorie counters on Elliptical machines all tend to be wildly optimistic about how many calories you are burning. It estimates that you'll be closer to the right number if you discount what it reports to you by subtracting off 30%.
The second link below estimates for moderately heavy elliptical machine usage, you burn about 430 calories per hour per 100 lbs of body weight.
